Former BRS MLA Guvvala Bala Raju in the combined Mahabubnagar district is said to have sent his resignation letter to KCR on Monday. Moreover, there are reports that he is going to join the BJP. However, neither he nor BRS sources have made any official announcement. Guvvala was elected as an MLA from Achampet in the 2014 and 2018 assembly elections.
Since the beginning, Guvvala, who has an aggressive nature, has been a trusted pawn of the party leadership. But, for the last few months he is keeping a low profile in party activities.
On the other hand, there is a possibility that the Achampet constituency, which is reserved, may become a general constituency by the next assembly elections. In this context, Guvvala’s resignation has become a topic of discussion in state politics.
He, who played a key role in the party since the time of the Telangana movement, was earlier in the fray as the Nagar Kurnool parliamentary candidate. After he won the 2019 elections as an MLA, the BRS party gave him the opportunity to be the government whip. However, he lost to Congress candidate Dr. Vamsi Krishna in the 2024 assembly elections.
There is a rumor that Bala Raju has cleared the line to join the BJP, whether due to the upcoming assembly seat allocation or some other reason. For the past few days, he has been talking to key leaders in the constituency on the phone inviting them to come with him. However, there is talk that the lower-level leaders are not as positive as he expected.
“Anna Namaste. There are reports that you are joining the BJP. Is it true?” An activist from the Achampet constituency asked former MLA Guvva over the phone.
“That’s right Tammi. I resigned from BRS this morning. As BRS is looking forward to merging with BJP, if we wait until then, the situation will not be in our favor. Wouldn’t it be better if we joined earlier?” Thus an audio reply that went viral is creating a row in political circles.
