Minister Komatireddy Venkatar Reddy became angry over the delay of more than one hour by another minister Uttam Kumar Reddy to catch the helicopter and left without going with him to lift Nagarjuna Sagar dam gates. He became impatient after waiting for him at the Begumpet Airport.

On Tuesday, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Adluri Lakshman were supposed to leave from Begumpet in a helicopter to lift the gates of Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. As per the schedule, Ministers Komatireddy and Adluri Lakshman reached Begumpet Airport at 9 am. However, Uttam Kumar Reddy did not reach there even after 10 am.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy expressed his anger over Uttam Kumar Reddy not coming even after 10 hours, even after he was told to come at 9 am. He asked how much longer he had to wait and left from there. Shortly after that, Uttam Kumar Reddy, who reached the airport, along with Adluri Laxman, left for Nagarjuna Sagar.

There, the gates of the Sagar were lifted and the water was released downstream. Minister Komatireddy reportedly switched off both his phones in this process. Meanwhile, as the Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir became full due to the heavy flood flow coming from above, the project’s crust gates were lifted and the water was released downstream.

Telangana Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Adluri Laxman and many other high-ranking officials participated in this program. The full capacity of the project is 590.00 (312.04 TMC) feet, but it has now reached 586.60 feet. In the wake of the lifting of the gates of the Nagarjuna Sagar project, officials have issued warnings to people in low-lying areas to be vigilant.

This is the first time in 18 years that water is being released from Nagarjuna Sagar a month ahead of schedule, i.e. in July. Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Nagarjuna Sagar is a modern temple for us. He said that he is very happy that the gates have been lifted from the Sagar.

On the other hand, as the flood flow to the Srisailam reservoir has increased further, water is being released to Nagarjuna Sagar through six gates. 2,29,743 cusecs are being received in Srisailam from the Jurala and Sunkesula projects. The outflow from Srisailam is 2,48,900 cusecs. 1,62,942 cusecs are being released through six spillway gates.

20,000 cusecs are being released from the Pothireddypadu head regulator, 35,315 cusecs from the left bank power station, and 30,643 cusecs from the right bank power station. The full water level of Srisailam is 885 feet and has now reached 883 feet. The full water storage capacity of the project is 215.80 TMC and is currently 204.78 TMC.
