Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s Singapore visit, which was aimed at attracting investment in various key sectors in addition to the construction of the capital city of Amaravati in AP, received a positive response on the first day. Several organizations, including Surbana Jurong, a Singaporean company that had previously worked for the capital city of Amaravati, have expressed interest in AP.
Representatives of Surbana Jurong met Chandrababu and they discussed infrastructure projects. They discussed the issue of Singapore model housing in AP as part of the Housing for All policy. Officials explained that 83 percent of Singapore housing has been undertaken by the government. The main focus was on partnership and cooperation with Surbana on government housing programs in AP and Amaravati.
Surbana Jurong will work as a program management consultancy in the process of transforming Amaravati into a city of the future. The CM also discussed with Surbana the issue of further improving the master plan prepared for Amaravati in the past.
CM Chandrababu Naidu told Indian High Commissioner Shilpak Ambule that there are ample opportunities for Singaporean investments in various sectors including ports and green energy in AP. With this, he said that the CBN brand is recognized in Singapore. The Indian High Commissioner explained Singapore’s policies in health, green hydrogen, aviation, semiconductors, ports, and industrial sectors.
The High Commissioner assured the Chief Minister that the Indian Embassy in Singapore will work with the AP government in facilitating potential investors from this country to explore investment opportunities in AP. He said that there are opportunities for Singaporean companies to invest in AP in sectors such as electronics, semiconductor production, shipbuilding, port operations management, setting up data centers, pharma, etc.
He said that there are opportunities for expansion of Asia Pacific giants STT, Keppel, CapitaLand, Equinix, PSA, etc. based in Singapore. The meeting also discussed the issue of AI, startups, research in the field of medical devices, and partnerships between AP and Singapore universities. The Indian High Commissioner told the CM that Singaporean companies are interested in investing in India, especially in Andhra Pradesh.
