CM Revanth Reddy says Hyderabad To Become A Hub For Data centers, A Data City will Be set Up

Stating that Hyderabad will become a hub for data centers in the future, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that a data city will be set up in Hyderabad. He held a review with the officials of the energy department and said that the electricity demand will increase due to the ambitious projects that the government will bring in the next three years. He suggested that a plan be prepared for the power requirements for the next three years.

Officials explained that the electricity demand has reached a record high of 17,162 megawatts this year and the demand has increased by 9.8 percent compared to last year. It is estimated that the electricity demand will increase to 18,138 megawatts in 2025 and 2026. Officials said that the electricity demand will reach 31,808 megawatts by 2034 and 2035.

Officials explained that quality electricity is being provided without any interruption. Revanth Reddy said that the power requirements of irrigation projects to be constructed in the Telangana state should be kept in mind. Also, he said that the power requirements of railway lines, metro and other mass transport should be taken into account.  He suggested that the power requirements of other corporations along with Greater Hyderabad should be taken into account.

The Chief Minister directed that the power requirements of newly established data centers and industrial sites should be kept in mind. He suggested that the power requirements of radial roads and satellite townships to be constructed within the Regional Ring Road should be coordinated with HMDA. Revanth Reddy issued orders to upgrade substations according to the power demand at the field level.

Stressing the need to focus on the modernization of power lines, he said that completely underground power lines should be established in Future City. He ordered that electricity towers, poles and lines should not be visible in the future city. He said that high tension lines will also have to be moved from there and suggested that smart poles should be set up on an experimental basis in Greater Hyderabad.

He said that necessary plans should be prepared for solar power generation on the 160 km outer ring road. He has asked the officials to examine the possibilities of solar power generation in the footpaths and drains within the GHMC limits.
