BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha demanded that the Narendra Modi-led government should provide interest-free loans of up to Rs. 15 lakh to women’s groups, saying that the central government is not taking steps to empower women. She accused that the BJP government at the center, which has waived off loans of Rs. 16.5 lakh to corporate companies, has no intention of giving them to women.
She alleged that the Congress government in the state is trying to deceive women by making false statements. Members of the Telangana Women’s Empowerment Association met MLC Kavita at her residence. Speaking on the occasion, MLC Kavita said During KCR’s tenure, they never lied, they said that they were giving interest-free loans up to Rs. 5 lakh to women’s groups, but this Congress government is lying about giving interest-free loans up to Rs. 20 lakh.
She recalled that the Congress government also said that it was giving interest-free loans up to Rs. 5 lakh, but it was trying to deceive women by telling lies. She accused the central government of not giving a single rupee to women despite heavy claims of its participation in whatever states do for women.
Kavitha said that the central government has waived off loans of up to Rs. 16.5 lakhs to big businessmen who are evading loans from banks and looting them, but it is regrettable that the BJP government at the center has not come to mind to give loans to women. She suggested that if the government is truly sincere about the development of women, it should announce special schemes for women.
She lashed out at the BJP government at the Centre for ignoring the welfare of women and raising the price of gas by Rs. 50 and raising it to a standstill. She wondered that if prices are decreasing internationally, why increase it here?
