The high voltage power struggle between BJP MP CM Ramesh and MLA Adinarayana Reddy has reached high pitch in Jammalamadugu of Kadapa district. The factional differences between BJP MLA Adinarayana Reddy, who represents Jammalamadugu constituency of YSR district, and Anakapalle MP CM Ramesh from the same constituency, have reached a fever pitch.
The internal struggle between the two has been going on for a decade. When CM Ramesh was a TDP Rajya Sabha member, Adinarayana Reddy was a YSRCP MLA. Even though Adinarayana Reddy joined the TDP in 2014 and became a minister, the friendship between the two was minimal.
The power struggle between them has intensified after the coalition government came to power. Recently, liquor shops in Muddanur were allotted to the faction of CM Ramesh’s family in the lottery. MLA Adinarayana Reddy’s faction prevented them from renting rooms there. Due to this, the two factions attacked each other.
The situation was brought under control after the police intervened. After this, CM Ramesh’s Ruthvik Company took the subcontract for the pumped storage solar project work that was awarded to Adani in Kondapuram mandal. In November 2024, MLA Adinarayana Reddy’s brother and followers blocked the work of the plant, which is being built with 1000 megawatts at a cost of Rs. 300 crore. The project office and sheds were pelted with stones and the Kondapuram police registered a case against several people.
Meanwhile, CM Ramesh’s brothers were working to build a perimeter wall and a park in Potladurthi, his hometown in Yerraguntla mandal, to develop the village deity temple with MP funds when the villagers obstructed them. A resolution was passed to construct only the perimeter wall. Ramesh’s group claims that these works were also obstructed by the Adinarayana Reddy group.
Keeping such developments in mind, CM Ramesh recently wrote a letter to District Collector Sridhar and SP Ashok Kumar alleging that gambling is being carried out in Jammalamadugu under the name of Republic Club and bets worth lakhs are being made every day.
He wrote an open letter stating that all this is going on under the auspices of Devagudi Nageshwar Reddy. With this, the Jammalamadugu DSP team went and closed the club. This is believed to be a big blow to the MLA’s followers financially. The MLA became angry.
