Case against Haryana BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli in Himachal Pradesh

Wednesday, January 15, 2025

Troubles have increased for Haryana BJP President Mohan Lal Badoli, 61, as a rape case has been registered against him in Himachal Pradesh and singer Rocky Mittal. A first information report (FIR) was registered against them at a police station in the tourist resort Kasauli in the Solan district.

According to the police, the complainant, a Delhi-based woman, has alleged that about one and a half years ago both of them sexually abused during her trip to Himachal Pradesh’s Kasauli, on the pretext of arranging a government job for her. Both of them also threatened to kill her.

The woman lodged a complaint in the Kasauli police station, after which the police registered a case. The case was registered on December 13, 2024. The woman alleged that she was forcibly made to drink alcohol and raped in a hotel in Kasauli.  Rocky Mittal, alias Jai Bhagwan, is accused of luring the woman to become an actress while Baroli is accused of luring her with a government job.

In the FIR registered under Sections 376D (gang-rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation), the woman alleged that the incident occurred when she was in Himachal Pradesh as a tourist along with her Delhi-based employer and a friend on July 3, 2023.

The woman claimed that she met Badoli and Mittal at a hotel in Kasauli. She has alleged that she was forced to consume alcohol and subsequently gang-raped in the hotel. The woman further claimed that both men had even threatened to kill her.

“Despite our refusal, they forcibly made us consume alcohol. After that, they started harassing me. I objected, after which they threatened my friend with dire consequences, and made her sit by one side. They threatened me that they would get me killed if I did not adhere to their demands. After that, both of them took turns to rape me. They also clicked my nude pictures and shot a video,” the complaint added.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Solan, Gaurav Singh, confirmed that an FIR has been registered in connection with the case. “The matter is under investigation. No arrests have been made so far,” the SP said.

In July last year, first-time lawmaker Badoli, a Brahmin, was appointed president of the BJP’s Haryana unit. He took over the party’s reins from Nayab Saini, who was made the Chief Minister, in the run-up to the Assembly polls.
