Hyderabad: Hydra Commissioner A.V. Ranganath announced on Wednesday that encroachments in lakes could be cleared without prior notices, in accordance with legal provisions. He emphasized that strict action would be taken against those illegally occupying water bodies overnight.
The Commissioner addressed concerns surrounding the demolition of encroachments at Thautonikunta and Bhagirathamma lakes along the Khajaguda road, conducted on December 31, 2024. He condemned misinformation campaigns, stating, “Encroachers are using social media to spread false narratives.”
Citing a recent Supreme Court ruling, Ranganath stressed the necessity of protecting water resources and taking decisive steps to eliminate encroachments to ensure their conservation.
