The 9-year-old boy Sri Teja, who was injured at the horrifying incident that took place on December 4 at midnight premiere at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre stampede,screening Pushpa 2: The Rule, remains critical and was declared brain dead due to lack of breathing.
Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand and Telangana Government Health Secretary Dr Christina visited KIMS Hospital on behalf of the Telangana Government on Tuesday, to inquire about the boy.
As per a post shared on X by Hyderabad City Police, the doctors have informed him that the boy is being treated with ventilator support and that the treatment is likely to be prolonged. The post also mentioned that the doctors will soon release a medical bulletin on Sri Teja’s health conditions.
Health Secretary Dr. Christina said that they are monitoring the health condition of Shri Teja regularly and hope for his speedy recovery. She also said that the state government is taking care of his medical care.
It may be recalled that Pushpa 2 star Allu Arjun was arrested after the stampede incident on Friday and was released on bail by the Telangana High Court. Later, the actor shared a post on his Instagram handle showcasing his concern about the boy where he also informed that due to the ongoing legal proceedings he has been advised not to visit him to the hospital.
Teja Sri is under the supervision of Dr. Chetan R. Mundada and Dr. Vishnu Tejapudi at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of KIMS. Although everyone expected that he would recover in the context of providing state-of-the-art medical care, from day one he is unable to open his eyes.
The Police Commissioner CV Anand told the media that Sri Teja was brain dead due to lack of breathing during the stampede and that it will take a long time to recover. He said that the doctors have informed him that he is being treated with ventilator support and that the treatment is likely to be prolonged. He said that the doctors will also release a medical bulletin on Sri Teja’s health soon.
