Following the death of a woman named Revathi (39) in a stampede that took place during the arrival of Allu Arjun at the Pushpa 2 benefit show at the Sandhya Theater in RTC Crossroads on Wednesday night, the Telangana government is contemplating to ban all benefit shows hereafter. In this stampede, her son Sreetej (9) is struggling hard for life in a hospital.
Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced that benefit shows will not be allowed for newly released films in Telangana. He said that the incident that happened near the Sandhya Theater was saddening. He expressed his condolences over Revathi’s death.
He questioned whether it was right for heroes to go at such a time? He said that all legal action will be taken against this incident. He said that it is sad that the hero and the film unit did not respond to the incident at the Sandhya Theater. He expressed his anger, saying, “Will a human being take his life?”
Referring to the claims of the film producers that the collections are in the thousands of crores, the minister said that they should give 25 lakhs to the victims. He demanded that the family be supported. “I am telling the hero and producers of that film.. Support them,” he added.
In this context, there is a possibility that the first show in Telangana will be at 7 am. This is likely to affect the films to be released during Sankranti. A police case has already been registered against the theater management as well as actor Allu Arjun over this incident.
Meanwhile, lawyer Rama Rao Immineni has filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) against Pushpa-2. He stated in his complaint that a woman lost her life in a stampede at the Sandhya Theater during the release of the film.. and action should be taken against this.
He alleged that the police did not respond properly even though there was a possibility of predicting the crowd of fans in advance. The lawyer stated in his complaint that the pre-release event was organized without any prior permission. The petitioner explained that the woman died due to the overzealous lathi charge by the Chikkadpally police and lack of precautionary measures. Lawyer Rama Rao appealed to the NHRC to conduct an inquiry into the incident and take action.
