Dalit organizations in Kurnool have lodged a complaint against former minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader RK Roja, who was accused of insulting Dalits. The complaint is filed over an incident that had taken place in February 2023, when the Tourism Minister Roja paid a visit to Suryalanka Beach in Bapatla district.
During her visit, Roja was seen leaving her slippers on the shore while enjoying the beach. A video of her personal assistant later picking up the slippers sparked controversy, with some accusing Roja of disrespecting Dalits.
This incident has now led to Dalit organizations approaching the Kurnool Three Town Police Station, calling for action against Roja for the alleged insult. The issue has gained considerable attention, especially amidst ongoing criticism of the YSRCP leadership for allegedly filing unnecessary cases against opposition members.
