Two new flights are available between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu inaugurated the Air India Express flight service at Visakhapatnam Airport. He said that as more seats are available between the two cities, the prices of flight tickets will come down and it is possible to get a ticket between Visakha and Vijayawada for Rs.3000.
The Union Minister said that many people have requested to increase the flight connectivity between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. He said that this is probably the first time that two flights between the two cities have started at the same time.
Air India Express departs Visakhapatnam at 9:35 AM and reaches Vijayawada (Gannavaram Airport) at 10:35 AM. It will leave Vijayawada at 7:55 pm and reach Visakha at 9 pm.
The Indigo service departs Vijayawada at 7:15 PM and reaches Visakhapatnam at 8:20 PM. The same service will leave Visakhapatnam at 8:45 PM and reach Vijayawada at 9:50 PM. With these new flights, the number of services between Visakha and Vijayawada will reach 3.
Rammohan Naid said that as Visakhapatnam is the fastest growing city both the central and state governments are determined to develop it further. He assured that connectivity is essential for the development of a region, efforts will be made to bring flight services between Visakha and Goa, and efforts will be made to ensure maximum connectivity from Visakha.
He said that an airport is being constructed in Bhogapuram with international standards and a decision has been taken to set up the Air Service University there. He mentioned that plans are being made to establish airports in new areas of the state.
He reminded that Chief Minister Chandrababu has paid special attention to the development of the aviation sector in the state and a drone show has been organized at the Vijayawada venue. He said that this drone show has set five records and 300 acres of Orvakallu area has been earmarked for a drone city.
He expressed hope that there are opportunities for the further development of Visakhapatnam. He recalled that Minister Nara Lokesh brought TCS to Visakhapatnam. Rammohan Naidu disclosed that efforts are being made to make Visakhapatnam a sports hub.
