Wednesday, December 18, 2024

The elections in Andhra Pradesh have come to an end, and it has hardly been four months since the NDA alliance has held the reins of power. Still, Ex Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked party members to begin preparing for future elections. While interacting with party cadres recently on the jamili elections, Jagan emphasized the need to get ready for all the forthcoming electoral battles.

He said the party leadership must prepare for jamili elections but this shouldn’t deviate from strengthening grassroots level party consolidation. He also urged all committees to peak up their working levels and actively work to redress state issues. He also championed to organize protests and agitations to raise slogans on Chandrababu’s policies and to correct injustices caused on the poor and marginalized sections of the state.

Jagan emphasized that outcry from the victims would be hailed by the people and challenged everyone to put in their best efforts as the elections near. In a recent interaction with the key leaders of the YSRCP, district heads, and leaders from affiliated groups met and stirred fervor by urging them to get ready for the jamili elections.

Jagan’s appeal for the party members to proactively work on the issues before the elections has generated much excitement and enthusiasm all around Andhra Pradesh. It was about a month ago that the central cabinet approved a proposal on jamili elections. Then, Jagan did not talk about the jamili elections. Now, with his encouragement at the party meeting to prepare for them, interest is being awakened at the grassroots level.

Chandrababu questioned the potential drawbacks of conducting those elections after the central cabinet approved the jamili elections. He expressed full support to the initiative. While the next general elections are scheduled for 2029, there’s a possibility that the jamili elections could occur in the latter half of 2027. With this in mind, Jagan has urged party members to start their preparations immediately, signifying that his faction is ready for the upcoming Jamili elections.
