In a major setback to both YCP and BRS, who have colluded to implicate chief minister Chandrababu Naidu in the infamous `Note for Vote’ case, the Supreme Court has dismissed two petitions seeking to include TDP chief as an accused in the case and also handed over the investigation to the CBI.
This has given a great relief to Chandrababu Naidu. The petition was filed by former YCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy in the Apex court. A bench of Justice Sundaresh and Justice Arvind Kumar heard the two petitions filed.
The bench of Justice Sundaresh reprimanded the petitioner Ramakrishna Reddy asking him not to use the court as a platform for his politics of vendetta. Upholding the judgment given by the AP High Court, the Supreme Court issued its latest verdict.
The Apx Court dismissed both the petitions stating that two chargesheets had already been filed in the case and there were no grounds for interference. During the arguments, the bench made key comments. It made strong remarks asking not to play with the court by bringing baseless facts. The Bench also enquired about the petitioner’s political affiliation.
Chandrababu’s lawyers said that the petitioner was an MLA from 2014 till the recent elections. Chandrababu’s senior lawyer Siddhartha Luthra explained that the party he is currently representing is in the opposition and was also in the opposition at the time of filing the petition also.
The bench suggested that he should contest the elections again and may win. Ramakrishna Reddy’s counsel gave a list of other cases in the Supreme Court on the note-for-vote issue. Luthra said that those cases have nothing to do with the cases that are being argued now. After seeing the list of cases, the bench expressed its anger against the petitioner and asserted that there is no reason to interfere in this case.
