During the election campaign, YCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy tried to provoke Muslims, Christians and Dalits against TDP stating that a vote to the opposition will be a vote for BJP, which is harassing them. But soon after elections, after losing his power, he extended spontaneous support to BJP’s candidate Ome Birla in Lok Sabha speaker election, which was also proposed and supported by TDP.
On the one hand in Bengaluru, he has been trying to bridge his relations with Congress through Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and in New Delhi making serious efforts to gain `blessings’ of Narendra Modi government, keeping in view of his CBI and ED cases.
After a devastating defeat in the polls, he said to be impatient and in a confused state on his future political journey. As his own party cadre is in a revolt mood against him and presence of adverse governments in both Telugu states, he said to be fearing to stay in Pulivendula, Tadepalli or Hyderabad. He is likely be confined to Bengaluru for most of time, here after.
Moreover, he is extending unconditional support to BJP in the Speaker election. As only three of his MPs took oath and YS Avinash Reddy had not taken oath so far, he was summoned immediately to Delhi on Wednesday and took oath before the Speaker election. Thus, he ensured BJP to get four votes from his party.
As Jaganmohan Reddy is on bail since more than 11 years in CBI and ED cases of illegal assets the knife of arrest is still hanging on him. So, he has no way but to `surrnder’ himself completely before BJP leadership. It is ironical to note that YCP extended support to BJP in Speaker election, even before they formally requested.
Besides existing cases of illegal assets, the new government in Andhra Pradesh has started probing into irregularities and large scale corruption during YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime. YCP leaders are fearing that new cases of severe nature are likely to come up again.
Though Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu made it clear that his government will not be vindictive against political opponents, he made it clear no one gets scot free from their massive corruption practices during the previous regime. This has been creating panic among YCP leadership.
