Leaders of NDA alliance – TDP, Jana Sena and BJP urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to deploy special forces in problematic areas during polling, particularly in Rayalaseema region.
They met AP Chief Election Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena Sunday evening and urged to increase security for the conduct of polling in many areas. They submitted a petition on the deficiencies in the security arrangements in those areas.
They particularly pointed out Dharmavaram, Jammalamadugu and Badvel constituencies in Rayalaseema, which are problematic. These have already been identified as critical sensitive constituencies by the ECI.
BJP official spokesperson Sadhineni Yamini Sharma said that Dharmavaram alliance candidate and BJP national secretary Satya Kumar has filed a case in the High Court seeking deployment of more central forces. The summary of the court verdict has been reported to the Chief Election Officer.
BJP leader Kilaru Dileep explained that they have identified the most problematic polling centers in Rayalaseema districts and gone to the court for security. The ECI has also asked the DGP to allocate armed forces. He said that the ECI has revealed that CCTV cameras are being installed in problematic polling stations.
“We have asked CEO Mukesh Kumar Meena to increase armed forces in problematic polling centers in Rayalaseema districts. Dharmavaram, Jammalamadugu and Badvel, which are constituencies are problematic. These have already been identified as critical sensitive constituencies”, said Yamini Sharma.
