The investigation into the attack on the Gannavaram TDP office, which took place during the YSRCP regime, is gaining momentum with more arrests being made. Recently, the police arrested 11 individuals, including Vallabhaneni Vamsi’s personal assistant, Raja, in connection with the incident. These suspects, identified as Vamsi’s close associates, were apprehended early Friday morning and brought to the police station for further questioning. More people are to be arrested from surrounding areas-Vijayawada Rural, Gannavaram, Bapulapadu, and Unguturu-by the authorities.
It was on February 20 this year that followers of former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi and YSRCP leaders stormed the TDP office in Gannavaram. The attackers fired at the office, broke furniture, and injured several TDP leaders besides setting fire to the vehicles. Following a complaint by TDP office operator Satyavardhan, police registered a case under various sections of the law.
Through a review of CCTV footage and video evidence, the police have identified 71 suspects who participated in the attacks. After the shift in the government, the probe gained momentum, with most of the accused persons forced underground. So far, the police continue arresting the accused persons in batches since the investigation remains fluid and ever-changing.
