Dastagiri, who turned approver in the YS Viveka murder case, returned to jail on various charges and was released on bail after four months. Upon his release, he leveled significant accusations, suggesting a conspiracy to win elections through sympathy, akin to the strategy employed during the previous assembly elections. He alleged that upon leaving jail on bail for charges brought by the Yerraguntla and Vemula police, he informed CBI officials at the Kadapa jail guest house before heading to Pulivendula amidst heavy police presence, with the intention of becoming an approver in Viveka’s case.
Dastagiri claimed that YSRCP leaders conspired against him, leading to his imprisonment, and asserted that he was approached by Chaitanya Reddy, son of an accused in Viveka’s case, with offers of a monetary settlement. He further alleged being enticed to testify against CBI SP Ram Singh but remained steadfast in his role as an approver, refusing to withdraw.
Despite the looming threats, he asserted his resolve, stating, “I am currently residing at MP Avinash Reddy’s residence in Pulivendula, and I fear no one.” Reflecting on his involvement in the Viveka case, he admitted his mistake and embraced the role of an approver as an act of repentance, vowing not to stray from the path of righteousness again. He emphasized his unwavering stance, expressing readiness to face death rather than succumb to pressure from Jagan and Avinash.
