New Delhi: YS Sharmila, Chief of YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) and sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, officially merged her party with the Congress in January. This significant decision followed the success of the Congress party in the Telangana assembly elections.

Expressing her happiness about the merger, YS Sharmila stated, “Today, I am very pleased to merge YSR Telangana Party into the Congress party. It brings me immense joy that YSR Telangana Party will now be a part of the Indian National Congress.”

Highlighting the Congress party’s significance, she remarked, “The Congress party remains the largest secular party in our country, consistently upholding the true culture of India and contributing to the foundations of our nation.”

During the recent Telangana assembly elections, YS Sharmila had consistently supported the Congress party, choosing not to contest the polls to avoid splitting votes.
