Amaravati: YS Sharmila on Tuesday was appointed as the President of the Andhra Pradesh unit of the Congress party by All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikarjun Kharge. This decision followed the resignation of Gidugu Rudra Raju from the post, allowing for Sharmila’s appointment. In conjunction with this, Mallikarjun Kharge designated Rudra Raju as a special invitee to the Congress Working Committee (CWC).
YS Sharmila, who recently merged YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) with the Congress party on January 4, expressed her gratitude to Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and K. C. Venugopal for the trust placed in her to lead the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC). In her statement, Sharmila pledged her commitment to diligently work towards revitalizing the party to its former prominence in the state of Andhra Pradesh, emphasizing total commitment and integrity in her new role as the APCC president.
