Yanamala seeks Justice For poor BC Farmers And Fishermen At Kakinada SEZ

Wednesday, December 18, 2024

Senior TDP leader and former finance minister Yanamala Ramkrishnudu has written a letter to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu demanding justice for the poor BC farmers and fishermen, who are the real victims of the Kakinada SEZ. He said that big companies that bought land from small farmers and fishermen in the Kakinada SEZ have benefited.

He said that KV Rao bought land in the SEZ at a low price and sold it to GMR companies for hundreds of crores of rupees. Later, it was revealed that Jagan sold it to Aurobindo, a benami, for about Rs 4,000 crores. He said that Divis is also one of the beneficiaries of the Kakinada port.

He said that along with the loss of land, the poor BC communities have suffered severely in this matter due to sea and air pollution. He said that their problems, which have lost about 10,000 acres for the SEZ, have not been resolved even today. He said that if the government does not take steps in favor of the Kona forest dwellers, they will have to fight continuously for their real problems.

Yanamala said that they have already written letters to the NGT in Chennai, the Union Environment Ministry and the AP Pollution Board to resolve their problems. He was furious that the YSRCP leaders were the who forcibly bought the lands from the poor at low prices. He alleged that the ministers and local MLAs in the YSRCP government were among those who cheated the farmers.

Yanamala wanted the government to conduct a thorough investigation and give those lands to the original farmers. He said that since they were occupied lands, illegal registrations could be cancelled.

He asked for a committee to be formed with the Pollution Board member, NGT representative and other departmental officials to resolve the issue so that the farmers, who are the original beneficiaries of the land, do not have serious concerns.

He also said that KV Rao has not done justice to those who lost money in the SEZ. He made it clear that BC farmers and fishermen should be protected from the clutches of big shots. Only then will there be true democracy, he added.
