The Pongal blockbuster of Megastar Chiranjeevi, ‘Waltair Veerayya’ has completed the magical 50 days run in more than 70 centers in this new age era of movies running only for a few weeks. The movie almost ended its theatrical run as it was already getting streamed on Netflix, and the closing figures are revealed by the trade pundits.
The movie which brought back the vintage megastar for the hardcore fans crossed 100 crores shares within the first week’s run and entered the profit zone at the end of the second week. Even with tough competition from Balayya’s ‘Veera Simha Reddy’, ‘Waltair Veerayya’ managed to collect a worldwide share of close to 150 crores thereby becoming the second highest grosser in Chiranjeevi’s career. The movie occupied the sixth spot in the all-time highest-grosser of the Telugu Movie Industry replacing Mahesh Babu’s ‘Sarileru Nekevvaru’. ‘RRR’ still stands tall followed by ‘Baahubali-1 & 2’. Stylish Star’s ‘Ala Vaikuntapuramlo’ stands at 4th followed by Chiranjeevi’s periodic drama ‘Sye Raa’.
Director Bobby Kolli has put his heart, blood, and sweat into this movie to showcase his matinee idol in his best form in recent times resulting in a blockbuster success at the box office. Chiru’s all-around performance along with rockstar DSP’s rocking album gave a treat to all the mega fans and became a memorable film in Chiru’s career post his re-entry into the films.
