More than 8 people have died and many more injured after two trains collided in Vizianagaram on Sunday. The reason behind the collision is not known yet. The accident happened when a train from Vizianagaram to Raigada, Odisha collided with another train that was going from Vishakapatnam to Palasa, Andhra Pradesh.
The Division Railway Manager shared more details about the accident. He revealed that the accident was a rear collision between the two passenger trains. Due to the collision, three coaches were derailed. The rescue operations are underway and the death toll is likely to go up.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy ordered immediate relief measures and the dispatch of ambulances from Vishakapatnam and Anakapalli. YS Jagan has also ordered the administration to make all kinds of arrangements in the nearby hospitals of the accident area. Due to the ongoing relief and rescue operations, many trains which are going through the route are diverted and a few were canceled.
