Actor Vijay Sethupathi has denied recent allegations of harassment made against him on social media, stating that the claims are baseless and have caused distress to his family. The controversy erupted after a woman named Ramya alleged that casting couch practices were rampant in Kollywood and accused Vijay Sethupathi of troubling her friend, leading to mental distress. The post triggered widespread discussion before it was deleted within hours.
Responding to the allegations, Vijay Sethupathi said, “People who know me laughed at these claims. I know who I am, and such false allegations cannot hurt me. However, they disturbed my family and close friends. I told them not to worry as it appeared to be an attempt to gain attention. We have filed a complaint with the cybercrime department. Over the past seven years, I have faced many challenges and have never been afraid of anything; such accusations will not affect me.”
Following backlash from Vijay Sethupathi’s fans questioning why the original post was deleted, Ramya issued a clarification, stating that her comments were made in anger and she did not expect them to go viral. She added that the post was deleted to protect her friend’s privacy.
