Actor Vijay Deverakonda on Wednesday clarified that he had promoted only a legal gaming application and not any betting platform. Speaking to reporters after nearly four and a half hours of questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a betting app case, Deverakonda stated that there is a clear distinction between betting and gaming apps.
“I was summoned as my name appeared in the betting app investigation. There are two types of apps in the country – betting and gaming. I promoted the A23 gaming app, which is entirely legal. Such apps operate with GST, taxes, permissions, and proper registration in several states. I have submitted my bank transaction details and the agreement with the concerned company to the ED. The A23 app is not even operational in Telangana,” he said.
