New buzz in the Kollywood circle suggested that there might be a falling out between National Award-winning actor Dhanush and his long-time collaborator, director Vetrimaaran. It emerged after the announcement of a new movie by Vetrimaaran with actor Silambarasan (Simbu) fueled assumptions of a divergence between the two industry giants.
Vetrimaaran has finally addressed the rumors – and has finally given them the clarity they needed. “There’s no truth to these rumors,” he told the paps. “And the lies are still going on and my mind has been affected mentally.”
Throwing light on the incident, Vetrimaaran said that he was still waiting for several unforeseen reasons, for his long-deferred venture Vaadi Vaasal with Suriya, in this wait he had written a new story and narrated it to Simbu, who immediately connected and agreed. The director explained that though the new film has the same setting as Vada Chennai, it is not a sequel in any manner.
Clarifying concerns of Dhanush’s involvement, Vetrimaaran clarified that Dhanush retains all the rights to Vada Chennai. Prior to proceeding with Simbu’s movie, he spoke to Dhanush himself. Not only did Dhanush not protest, but even went on to volunteer to give a No Objection Certificate (NOC) without seeking any monetary compensation.
Vetrimaaran was left disappointed by the false rumors going around on the internet that people were jumping to conclusions without knowing the facts. He then showered praise on Dhanush for being a steady pillar of support throughout his life. The director even made a moving admission—when there was a recent cash crunch, it was Dhanush who stepped forward to assist him with an advance, highlighting the extent of their personal and professional bond.
He also added that Dhanush and Simbu have mutual respect and understanding towards each other, and are equally thrilled about the project. With this clarification, Vetrimaaran has clearly closed the chapter on all the speculation, to declare that there was only respect and friendship between him, Dhanush and Simbu.
