Veteran actor and director Charuhasan, brother of prominent actor Kamal Haasan, has been admitted to a private hospital in Chennai due to health concerns. On Thursday night, following a sudden deterioration in his health, his family took him to the hospital, where he is now preparing for surgery. The update was shared by his daughter, actress Suhasini Mani Ratnam, on social media.
“Just before Diwali, my father became unwell, and our festival was spent in the emergency ward. He is now readying for surgery,” Suhasini wrote.
At 93, Charuhasan had previously been hospitalized in August due to age-related health issues. Known for his contributions to cinema across various languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi, Charuhasan won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his role in the Kannada film Tabarana Kathe. He recently appeared in the Tamil film ‘Hara’ earlier this year. Charuhasan is survived by three daughters: Suhasini, Subhashini, and Nandini.
