The film, which created a strong buzz with scintillating teasers and trailers, failed to take off well in any territory despite aggressive promotions from the makers. This left Varun Tej with much disappointment because he gave his everything for the film.
As per box office reports, Operation Valentine took a disastrous opening on Friday with less than 2 Crores gross worldwide. This is the lowest opening for Varun Tej in recent times. Though the film secured moderate reviews and average word of mouth, the collections are expected to be decent given that there is no competition at the box office. Unfortunately, the first weekend numbers are likely to be less than 5 Crores which means the film will end up as a huge debacle, leaving its buyers in dire straits.
Varun Tej’s declining success graph is one of the reasons for the poor opening. Moreover, the lukewarm response to aerial thrillers is another reason why the film failed to pique the curiosity of moviegoers. Despite boasting spectacular visuals, the lack of strong drama and solid emotional content seemed to have impacted the box office prospects.
The only takeaway for Varun Tej from this failure is that his performance received positive feedback and his brave attempt to select a patriotic subject deserves a pat.
