TDP National General Secretary Varla Ramaiah, describing Jaganmohan Reddy’s five-year rule as corrupt, said that every word he spoke was a pack of lies. He expressed his grief that the people had to pay Rs. 1.29 crores for electricity due to YS Jagan’s corruption. He made it clear that this increase in electricity charges is Jagan Reddy’s fault.
Varla Ramaiah challenged YS Jagan, saying, “Do you have the courage to come to a discussion on this?” He was furious over YS Jagan’s comments that he would hold a dharna and asked Jagan Reddy directly, “Who will you hold a dharna against?” He questioned the YSRCP chief on this occasion.
He reminded Jagan that the electricity production in plants decreased due to the substandard coal purchases from his party’s Rajya Sabha member Vijayasa Reddy’s company. With a total loss of 1,29,503 crores, this electricity burden has fallen on the people today. He asked has he started a single new power plant during your rule?
Varla Ramaiah reminded that the pioneer of electric lights was TDP chief and CM Chandrababu Naidu. He said that during Chandrababu’s rule from 1995 to 2024, 5 megawatts of electricity generation were increased. He also said that after the division of the state, i.e. from 2014 to 2019, the electricity generation capacity was increased by 9,463 megawatts.
Varla Ramaiah explained on this occasion that the electricity generation increased by Chandrababu is 15,000 megawatts of the total electricity generation in the state. He said that Chandrababu Naidu is credited with installing 21 lakh street lights across the state. Have you installed a single street light during your five-year rule? Will you come to a public discussion on this?, he asked.
He said that Chandrababu Naidu brought the Electricity Reforms Act in AP in 1998. However, he said that Chandrababu is carrying your sin today like Jesus carried the cross. He alleged that during his five year’s regime, Jagan has increased electricity charges nine times. Back then, he bought electricity indiscriminately in the market and in 2022-23. Rs. 6,072 crores and in 2023-24. Rs. 9,412 crores were imposed on the people.
