Tollywood director Vamshi Paidipally has never had a career path that was shrouded in vagueness — work with the biggest stars and never compromise the magnitude of his film. While most directors attempt to have a steady stream of releases, Vamshi waits for the right script and the suitable hero, even if it means years between films. Such a strategy, though deliberate, has resulted in fewer films over time.
Vamshi debuted with Munna, which didn’t perform well at the box office. However, he never lost focus on star-studded films and never took up projects featuring small heroes. Date problems or scheduling issues with top heroes occasionally led him to hunt for other industries, but never the star factor. Following the blockbuster Maharshi with Mahesh Babu, a sequel with the star was lined up but later dropped.
Not one to let things slow down, Vamshi waited patiently and soon went on to make Varisu with Vijay. Although Varisu did well, Vamshi has not yet announced his next project. Having established himself in Kollywood, he then moved to Bollywood, with the initial plans of making a movie with Aamir Khan — a project that somehow did not materialize.
Undaunted, the director is now said to be working with Salman Khan, who reportedly gave a green signal to the story. The film is expected to be produced by Dil Raju, who, despite facing a lean patch recently, wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to work with a star of Salman’s magnitude.
Industry folks and fans are closely following this bold project. With the proven track record of Vamshi at creating star-driven successes and Dil Raju’s expertise in production, everyone is eager to know if this bold attempt at a Bollywood film will turn out to be a super hit, given the current market conditions.
