USA : Jailer soars high, Bholaa Shankar tanks heavily

Megastar Chiranjeevi and Superstar Rajinikanth locked horns at the box office last week with Bholaa Shankar and Jailer. While Jailer emerged as a huge blockbuster, Bholaa Shankar tanked heavily at the box office in all territories.

In USA, Jailer created a rampage with $ 4 million gross in its first day. Despite releasing in the middle of the week, the Nelson Dilip Kumar directional took a sensational start with $ 948K from its Wednesday premieres. As the film secured rave reviews because of Rajinikanth’s power-packed performance, the film went on a record-breaking spree with impressive numbers on all days. By the end of Sunday, Jailer entered the $ 4 million club. The film is on track to emerge as the second highest-grossing Kollywood film after Enthiran ( Robo).

Tollywood biggie Bholaa Shankar tanked heavily at the box office. Chiranjeevi’s over-the-top histrionics, lackluster script and outdated narration turned out to be the biggest liabilities for the film. Meher Ramesh failed to take the core emotion of Vedalam and infused needless entertainment due to which the film failed to impress the moviegoers. Shockingly, the film is likely to be a bigger disaster than Chiru’s Acharya.
