USA firm Pegasus Capital Advisors and Producers Trust have come forward to provide assistance to Andhra Pradesh in areas such as marketing, development and financing, along with organic farming. Representatives of the firm held discussions with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu during his recent visit to Davos.
As part of the continuation of that process, Pegasus Capital Advisors Chairman Craig Kogut, Operating Advisor Gina McGarthy, Trust CEO Keith Agoda and others met Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at the Secretariat on Wednesday. They will sign an MoU with Rythu Sadhikara Samstha to promote Andhra Pradesh as a global center of excellence for organic farming ecosystems.
They also discussed this with the Chief Minister. They explained to the CM that their organization will help in providing natural farming and crops that can withstand different climates, creating an end-to-end connection system from farmers to consumers, marketing, financing, data management, setting up infrastructure, etc.
Later, CM Chandrababu Naidu explained to them the opportunities available in the state for natural farming and the government’s goals. He said that natural farming is currently practiced in five lakh hectares in the state, and the government’s goal is to convert 40 lakh farmers to natural farming and ensure that it is practiced in 50 lakh acres by 2028-29.
He said that the state government has decided to work with various organizations around the world to support farmers. These organizations will help in providing crops that can withstand different climates in natural farming, creating an end-to-end connection system from farmers to consumers, market development, financing, data management, and setting up infrastructure.
They will facilitate financial support from public and private institutions. They will promote AP as a global center of excellence for natural agro- ecosystems.
