USA BO : Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty takes a good start

After Vijay Devarakonda’s Kushi, one more romantic entertainer is going to test its luck at the box office this week. Starring Naveen Polishetty and Anushka Shetty in the lead roles, ‘Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty’ is hitting the screens all over today.

Naveen Polishetty promoted the film quite aggressively in the last couple of weeks. He even travelled to USA to take part in a few promotional events. All this created decent hype on the film and it has now taken an impressive opening at the US box office.

Despite releasing midweek, Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty grossed close to $ 200K from its Wednesday premieres. This is an encouraging start considering that the film released along with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and also without any holiday advantage.

The early reports from premieres for this rom-com are so-so. The first half is decent and the second half is moderately fun. Naveen Polishetty’s comedy timing and Anushka’s dazzling screen presence are said to be the biggest assets of the film. However, the wafer-thin storyline and snail-paced narration have hampered it from reaching its full potential.

Miss Shetty and Mr. Polishetty will need to perform well in the first weekend to emerge as a profitable venture. Last weekend, Kushi secured a million-dollar weekend. It remains to be seen how overseas audiences accept this film.
