Epic blockbuster Kalki 2898AD is unfazed with the release of Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2. The Prabhas starrer is continuing its terrific run in North America despite new releases and achieved another huge milestone during the third weekend. As of this writing, Kalki 2898AD is all set to emerge as the second highest grossing Indian film of all time in the biggest overseas territory( USA and Canada).
After having a phenomenal run in the first two weeks, the Nag Ashwin directional was expected to slow down with the release of Shankar’s much anticipated sequel, Indian 2. But, Kalki 2898AD recorded impressive numbers on third Saturday with more than $ 350K and shocked the trade circles. The film collected decent numbers on weekdays and set for another strong weekend as Indian 2 secured below-par ratings.
Kalki 2898AD has overtaken Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and emerged as the second biggest grosser in North America with $ 17.5 million till now. The film is likely to surpass the $ 18 million mark in the next few days and end its run in the same spot as Baahubali 2 is way ahead with more than $ 20 million gross.
Kalki 2898AD emerged as the biggest blockbuster of 2024 and also as one of the highest grossing films of all time with more than 1000 Crores gross in less than three weeks. The film released on June 27th and garnered impressive reviews and unanimous word of mouth from all quarters. It broke numerous existing box office records and turned out to be a massive hit in all areas.
The commendable performances from the star cast and the stupendous visuals are the biggest selling points for this dystopian science fiction thriller set in the backdrop of epic Mahabharata.
