Nani’s latest offering Hi Nanna, an emotional drama, took a moderate start with $ 272K from its Wednesday premieres. This is the third biggest opening in Nani’s career after Dasara ( $ 637K ) and MCA ( $ 303K ). Due to Wednesday release and the fact that it is facing competition from Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, this is a decent start for Hi Nanna because it is a complete emotional saga, unlike his previous films which were full-length entertainers.
By the end of Thursday, the film will surpass the $ 400K mark. The real test starts from Friday and it would be a big feat if Hi Nanna joins the million-dollar club by the end of Sunday. Nani has more million dollar films in USA than many of the top-league actors of Tollywood at present.
Hi Nanna received strong word of mouth because of the soul-stirring performances by the lead characters and the heartfelt narration by debut director Shouryuv. Trade experts believe that collections will see a good surge during the weekend because of the positive reviews and impressive mouth talk.
