NTR’s ‘Devara : Part 1’, which emerged as a clean hit in North America by the end of first week, continues to add decent revenues in the second weekend. On Second Friday, the film collected close to $ 120K. After taking a fantastic opening with sensational Thursday premieres, Devara ended the first weekend on a positive note with close to $ 4.9 Million gross from USA and Canada territories including all languages.
Though the film secured average reviews and word of mouth, the collections on weekdays remained afloat without much drop. From Monday to Friday, Devara added another $700K and ensured that the buyers see considerable profits. The film now collected a total gross of 5.75 Million and will surpass the prestigious $ 6 Million mark in its full run.
It is unlikely to surpass SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster Baahubali which notched up $ 6.8 Million in North America, but will end up as the sixth biggest grossing Telugu film of all time after Baahubali 2, Kalki, RRR and Salaar.
Devara has emerged as the highest grossing film in Koratala Siva’s career and also the second biggest hit for NTR after RRR. The film initially showed signs of touching the $ 8 Million mark due to the strong advance sales. However, the word of mouth seems to have impacted the collections. It will now end up around $ 6.2 Million. Nevertheless, it is a big hit in North America.
