NTR’s ‘Devara: Part 1’ continues to pile up decent revenues in overseas market. The film already emerged as a blockbuster in various foreign territories with a strong run in the first two weeks. In North America, the Koratala Siva directional achieved another massive milestone on this Thursday and created history with its stupendous run.
Devara is now only the 6th Tollywood film in North America to hit the prestigious $ 6 Million club and also the second film for NTR to surpass the milestone. Before Devara, blockbuster films like Baahubali 2, Kalki, RRR, Salaar and Baahubali achieved this target. NTR is now the only hero after Prabhas to have two films with more than $ 6 Million gross in North America.
Devara started off on a staggering note in North America with $ 3.7 Million on the first day including record breaking premieres. It ended the weekend with close to $ 5 Million mark. Throughout the first week, the collections remained steady as the film grossed close to $ 876K from Monday to Sunday. In the second week, the film so far added $140K after an impressive second Tuesday with $ 87K haul. The overall total is now $ 6 Million. Surprisingly, the Hindi version contributed $ 550K.
Despite mixed talk and moderate reviews, the performance of the film has been fantastic in overseas circuit. It touched the break even mark in the second weekend itself and entered the profit zone. Had the film received unanimous talk, Devara would have been a blockbuster and the North America gross alone would have touched the $ 10 million mark. Nevertheless, this is a great run for the film.
Both NTR and Koratala Siva can now heave a sigh of relief and get ready for the second part which is likely to have bigger craze and expectations.
