Urvashi Rautela Breaks Silence on Dabidi Dibidi Song Controversy

Thursday, April 3, 2025

One of the most anticipated films, Daaku Maharaj, has landed in controversy since its song Dabidi Dibidi got released. A specific dance in which Balakrishna taps Urvashi Rautela on her lower back has raised quite a furore on social media, where the act has been increasingly tagged as inappropriate.

The backlash was immediate, with both Balakrishna and choreographer Shekar Master facing heavy trolling online. The situation took an unexpected turn when Urvashi Rautela unknowingly shared some of the trolling messages on Instagram, adding fuel to the debate. The film’s team later clarified that she was unaware of the intent behind the posts.

Now, Urvashi has finally addressed the controversy, making it clear that neither she nor the team found the step objectionable while shooting the song.

“We went through proper rehearsals, and everything felt natural. There was nothing uncomfortable or inappropriate about the choreography. I have worked with Shekar Master before, and he has always been highly professional,” Urvashi said.

She admitted to being shocked by the negative reaction online, emphasizing that no one had raised concerns when the rehearsal clips were released earlier.

“We never anticipated such a response. It’s surprising how the perception changed after the song’s release. During rehearsals and filming, we never thought it would be interpreted this way,” she added.

Despite the backlash, Urvashi defended the choreography, stressing that it was executed professionally with no intent to offend. The incident has once again sparked discussions about shifting audience sensibilities and evolving standards in film choreography.
