Rajahmundry: AP Congress Chief YS Sharmila held a meeting with former MP Undavalli Arun Kumar in Rajahmundry, leading to speculations about his potential entry into the Congress. Undavalli clarified that their conversation was a courtesy call, revolving around reminiscing about the past, particularly the days of YS Rajasekhar Reddy. Undavalli expressed admiration for Sharmila, foreseeing her rise in politics and drawing parallels between her engaging nature and that of Rajasekhar Reddy.
Undavalli addressed queries about joining the Congress, stating that such discussions often arise during meetings. He clarified that despite invitations from Jagan and Sharmila’s husband Anil’s visits, he has remained away from politics for the past decade. Undavalli strongly asserted the Congress’s significance in delivering welfare benefits to the people, despite acknowledging instances of corruption within the party.
Expressing optimism about the Congress’s revival in AP under Sharmila’s leadership, Undavalli suggested that success in securing special category status and completing the Polavaram project could contribute to the party’s resurgence in the state.
