Tollywood veteran filmmaker Sagar passes away

Tollywood legendary filmmaker Vidya Sagar who is popularly known as Sagar passed away on Thursday. As per the sources, the veteran director who has been struggling with health-related issues for the past few years, breathed his last at the age of 70 on Thursday.

Upon hearing the saddening news, many filmmakers and celebrity personnel from the Telugu Film Industry took to their social media handles and expressed their shock and grief over the talented filmmaker’s sudden demise.

Speaking about his filmy career, Sagar made his directorial debut with the 1983 film Rakasi Loya which featured superstar Mahesh Babu’s half-brother Naresh and Vijaya Shanti in the lead roles.

After this, he delivered several blockbuster films including Public Rowdy, Amma Donga, Bharatasimham, Daadi, Alumagalu, Nakshatra Poratam, Jagadekaveerudu, Ramasakkanodu, Osi Naa Maradala, Ammanaakodalaa, Khaidi Brothers, Anveshana, Action No.1 and many others.

Sagar worked as the president of the Telugu Directors Association for three times. Several popular filmmakers like Srinu Vaitla, VV Vinayak, Ravi Kumar Chowdhary, and G Nageswara Reddy worked as assistant directors under him who later went on to become successful directors in the Telugu film industry.

As per the sources, the Telugu filmmaker’s last rites will be reportedly performed in Chennai this evening.
