Thaman Blames Choreography for Game Changer Songs Not Clicking with Fans

Monday, April 28, 2025

Ram Charan’s much anticipated collaboration with the renowned director Shankar initially generated massive frenzy among the fans. But when the movie’s release date approached, the anticipation gradually declined. The movie eventually fared below expectations at the box office, and everyone questioned whether it was the right move for Charan. Of the things that were criticized, the soundtrack of the movie was a point of contention with music director Thaman being criticized for not delivering what was expected of him.

Responding to these issues in a recent interview, Thaman came to the defense of his work, claiming that he gave his best songs, but the choreography failed to do them justice.

“A song is not all about the music. It’s all about the blend of melody, presentation, and visual. I can make a track that crosses 25 million views, and a good melody can even touch 50 million. But to leave a lasting impact, choreography is essential. In Game Changer, none of the songs had a good hook step—whether it was ‘Jaragandi,’ ‘Raa Macha Macha,’ or ‘Naana Hairaana,'” Thaman explained.

He also compared it to Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, where each song featured a signature hook step that was the trend. “That’s the major difference. In Game Changer, the choreography was not lifting the songs to another level. It’s the job of both the choreographer and the lead actor to make a song visually beautiful.”. In my opinion, the lack of hook steps is the primary reason why Game Changer’s songs failed to strike a chord with the masses,” he further added.

Thaman’s remarks have now set off new debates among fans, with some accepting his view point, and others opining that the movie’s overall presentation had a greater bearing on its lackluster response.
