Thalapathy Vijay creates record after Instagram debut

Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay commands a solid fan base and is considered a demi-god for the masses in South Indian cinema. He has a strong presence on social media as well. He updates about his films on Twitter and Facebook quite rarely and his posts receive a tremendous reach in terms of likes, shares, and retweets.

Now, Vijay made an official debut on Instagram this Sunday afternoon. As soon as the Varisu actor joined Instagram, lakhs of followers followed his account and set a record by a huge margin. Vijay garnered more than 3.5 Million followers in just a few hours, which is a record unheard of in India till now. Vijay is now the first celebrity to receive such a huge following in less than a day. He is likely to garner close to four million followers by the end of Monday. Vijay will soon emerge as one of the most followed celebrities of the country on Instagram.

Vijay posted an impressive picture with a salt-and-pepper look dressed up in a black outfit. The picture clocked more than 35 lakh likes in no time. He captioned the picture ‘ Hi Nanbas and Nanbis’.

On the work front, Vijay is currently busy shooting for his forthcoming action drama Leo in the direction of Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film is slated for release on October 19th this year.
