In a captivating finale of the 72nd Miss World pageant held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri was crowned Miss World. The prestigious title was passed on to her by Miss World 2024, Kristýna Pyszková.
Ethiopia secured the position of first runner-up, followed by Miss Poland as the second runner-up and Miss Martinique as the third runner-up. The newly crowned Miss World will receive a prize money of ₹8.5 crore.
Suchata, who was born in Phuket, Thailand, competed under the campaign theme “Opal for Her.” In a recent interview with ETV, she stated that her mission was to create a global impact through her advocacy. A cancer survivor since the age of 16, she has been actively raising awareness about breast cancer in Thailand. She is involved in fundraising efforts and collaborates with multiple organizations supporting cancer patients. She also called upon the youth to take initiative and work towards meaningful change.
The Miss World 2024 competition saw participation from 108 contestants representing countries across the globe. Over the past 20 days, the international event unfolded in multiple stages, culminating in a high-profile finale in Hyderabad. Forty contestants made it to the quarterfinals, with two representatives advancing from each continent. Four finalists entered the final round, where Opal Suchata emerged as the winner, bringing pride and celebration to Thailand.
