Telugu cinema is making a strong presence in the prestigious Oscars race this year, with five films under consideration for India’s official entry. The Film Federation of India has initiated the selection process, and Tollywood’s multiple entries have drawn national attention.
Big-budget productions such as Pushpa 2: The Rule, Kubera, and Kannappa are among the front-runners, all carrying pan-India expectations. Alongside them, the family drama Sankranthiki Vostunnam and the children’s film Gandhi Tata Chettu have also found a place on the list, highlighting the industry’s diversity in themes ranging from action and mythology to social storytelling.
As per the process, only one film will ultimately be chosen as India’s official entry to the Academy Awards. The strong showing of Telugu films this year reflects the industry’s growing influence and creative range on the global stage.
