Amaravati: Pattipati Sharath, the son of former Telugu Desam Party (TDP) minister Pattipati Pulla Rao, was apprehended by the Machavaram police in Krishna district on Thursday. His arrest is linked to a case involving GST evasion and money laundering. Sharath is associated with Avexa Corporation Private Limited, a company he manages. Meanwhile, Pattipati Pulla Rao secured the TDP ticket from Chilukaluripeta in the list announced by TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. The Machavaram police have registered a case against him for allegedly dodging GST payments, leading to Sharath’s arrest following a complaint from GST authorities.

The TDP cadre strongly criticized Sharath’s arrest, alleging a deliberate move by ruling party leaders to target TDP members ahead of the upcoming elections in Andhra Pradesh. Local TDP leaders are calling for Sharath’s immediate release, expressing frustration over what they perceive as politically motivated tactics aimed at hindering their ability to challenge Pattipati in the upcoming polls.
