Numero Uno filmmaker SS Rajamouli is regarded as the trendsetter for making pan-India movies and expanding the market for regional films like no other. He proved that Telugu films will have a huge patronage beyond our states if they are promoted aggressively and extensively all over the country. Surprisingly , he credits the success for his pan-India formula to Tamil superstar Suriya.
During the pre-release event of the much awaited biggie ‘Kanguva’ held in Hyderabad last night, Rajamouli revealed that it was Suriya who inspired him to do pan-India films. The Baahubali director recollected how he used to consider Suriya’s efforts to promote Ghajini beyond Tamilnadu as a case study and explain his producers and heroes to adopt a similar strategy for their films.
Rajamouli expressed deep regret for missing out on doing a film with Suriya in the past and added that he admires his acting skills and screen presence very much. Talking about Kanguva, Rajamouli said it is a difficult task to shoot a film in a new location and inside massive sets. The team seems have put in great efforts to shoot Kanguva in new locations and big sets, said Rajamouli.
Director Boyapati Srinu also graced the event as one of the chief guests. He said Suriya became a household name in Telugu States. Kanguva is a Telugu film and the visuals are very impressive, he added.
Suriya said Rajamouli is the one who paved the way for the entire film industry and added that they will try to reach the expectations set by him. Suriya revealed how he spoke with Prabhas, Rana and Anushka before doing Kanguva to know about their efforts for Baahubali. He said director Siva inspired by Rajamouli’s enthusiasm and guided the team of Kanguva.
Kanguva is touted to be a period drama which traces the lineage of five families set in the backdrop of 1000 years ago. Disha Patani and Bobby Deol appeared in important roles in this film. KE Gnanavel Raja and UV Creations jointly produced this film on a grand scale.
