Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana’s latest film Thamma, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, has made a roaring debut at the box office. Released in both Hindi and Telugu, the horror-comedy opened to massive numbers, earning ₹25.11 crore worldwide on its first day, as confirmed by Maddock Films. The production house described the film’s opening as a “box office dhamaka,” highlighting it as Ayushmann Khurrana’s biggest career opening to date.
The film follows Alok Goyal (Ayushmann), a journalist who finds himself entangled in a mysterious world after being rescued from a bear attack by Tadkaa (Rashmika), a supernatural woman belonging to a blood-drinking clan led by Yakshasan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). As Tadkaa defies her kind and chooses love over her dark origins, their worlds collide in a blend of fantasy, fear, and emotion.
With its unique premise and strong performances, Thamma expands Maddock Films’ acclaimed horror-comedy universe that includes Bhediya, Munjya, and Stree 2. The film’s success has set high expectations for its weekend run, with trade analysts predicting continued momentum across domestic and international markets.
