Tollywood director Srinu Vaitla created a brand for himself in the comedy genre. He was a reliable director then because his films largely catered to families and resulted in good collections. His knack for delivering comedy capers to the fullest made him a top-league director in those days. Films like Anandam, Sontham, Dee, Venky, Ready, and Dookudu received huge patronage because they have a strong dose of comedy.
Unfortunately, Srinu Vaitla failed to adapt himself to the changing tastes of moviegoers and came up with formulaic scripts that impacted his success graph. His downfall started with Ram Charan’s Bruce Lee and he couldn’t make a comeback after that because his successive attempts proved to be futile.
Now, after five years, Srinu Vaitla got one final chance to prove that there is still steam left in him. He narrated a script to Gopichand long back and got the green signal. The formal launch took place in Hyderabad on Saturday. The film, tentatively titled Viswam, will be made on a hefty budget with grand production values. Chitralayam Studios will produce it and the cast and crew details will be announced very soon.
This might be a make-or-break film in Srinu Vaitla’s career. If he can deliver a decent outing at least, his career might get some oxygen to survive a few more years. Otherwise, this will be his last film.
Srinu Vaitla gets a final chance.
