Tollywood director Koratala Siva, who is currently helming NTR’s upcoming pan-India film Devara, is once again in the news for the wrong reasons. His 2015 blockbuster social entertainer Srimanthudu, starring Mahesh Babu in the lead role, is entangled in a legal tussle as a novelist named Sarath Chandra won a lawsuit against him over the plagiarism of the script. Koratala will now need to face the punishment slapped by the Supreme Court or he should openly admit to his fault.
Before starting NTR’s Devara, Koratala faced a lot of ignominy for delivering a debacle with Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Aacharya. Many of its buyers demanded compensation from the director. At that time, there were numerous rumours in the media about the financial crunch that was faced by Koratala Siva to settle the losses. All these issues have dented his confidence and led to the delay in the start of NTR’s Devara.
Now, the Srimanthudu copyright issue will further deteriorate the public image of Koratala Siva. This will potentially impact the hype on Devara to some extent because doubts will arise if Siva is coming up with his own script or a copied one from any other source like the Srimanthudu story.
Moreover, he will need to settle the issue with the writer as soon as possible because Devara will hit the screens in a few more months this year. Any further damage to his popularity will only create more headaches for Devara which is a make-or-break film for his career.
