Actress Sreeleela is set to showcase a new dimension of her acting in Robinhood, a fun-filled entertainer featuring Nithiin in the lead role. Directed by Venky Kudumula and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film has completed its production and is slated for release on March 28 as a Ugadi special. Speaking about her role, Sreeleela revealed that she has never played a character like this before and described the film as a complete entertainer.
Rashmika Was the First Choice for the Role
Sreeleela disclosed that her character in Robinhood is of a young woman who returns to India from abroad, believing the world revolves around her. She revealed that Rashmika Mandanna was originally set to play the role but had to opt out due to scheduling conflicts. “She really liked the role but couldn’t take it up because of date clashes. When we met during Pushpa 2 shooting, she wished me ‘All the best.’ I thoroughly enjoyed playing this character,” she shared.
A Laughter-filled Experience on Set
Sharing insights into her experience working on the film, Sreeleela expressed her excitement about teaming up with Nithiin and comedy veterans like Vennela Kishore and Rajendra Prasad. “Working with Nithiin was a smooth and enjoyable experience. He has a very grounded personality, and I believe our pairing will be well received. Shooting comedy scenes with Vennela Kishore was a challenge because I couldn’t stop laughing. Our sequences will bring a lot of fun to the audience,” she added.
Juggling Medicine and Acting
Sreeleela also opened up about her busy schedule over the past year, balancing multiple film shoots while completing her final year of medical studies. “There were days when I worked in four to five shifts to wrap up my projects. I knew I had to take a year-long academic break, which resulted in missing out on some great scripts. Now that I have completed my degree, I am managing my schedule accordingly,” she said.
Upcoming Projects
Talking about her future in the industry, Sreeleela emphasized her deep connection with Telugu cinema and her commitment to taking on impactful roles. “I want to continue doing commercial entertainers while also taking on roles that leave a lasting impression, like Viji Papa in Bhagavanth Kesari. Telugu cinema is my home, and I have no plans to move to Bollywood. Currently, I am working on Parashakti, Mass Jathara with Ravi Teja, and the Kannada-Telugu bilingual Junior. Several more projects are in the pipeline, with announcements coming soon,” she concluded.
